Christmas Cookies
1/3 Cup soft shortening 1 tsp. lemon Flavoring
1/2 Cup sugar 2 ¾ Cups Flour
1 egg 1 tsp. soda
2/3 Cup Honey 1 tsp. salt
Mix shortening, sugar, egg, honey and lemon thoroughly. Blend
flour, soda, salt; stir in. Chill dough. Heat oven 375 degrees.
Roll dough 1/4” thick. Cut out with your favorite cookie cutters.
Place 1” apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 min.
Ice when cool and decorate. 5 dz. 2 1/2 “ cookies.
Frosting
1 egg white beaten 2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup soft shortening 2 Tablespoons milk
Enough powdered sugar to spread frosting.
Powdered sugar and milk can be added to increase volume.
This is a wonderful cookie receipe especially with local blackberry honey. Try it for party snacks.
